We may not be able to change the way we behaved in the past, but we can change how we behave today. God gave us memory, not to re-hash the past and beat ourselves up, rather to remember the lesson.
Take any past challenging experience and ask yourself these questions:
- Which thoughts, words and behaviors worked?
- Which thoughts, words and behaviors didn’t work?
- If I could re-live the scene with a new stage back-drop, what thoughts, words and behaviors would I choose, knowing what I know?
In the movie GroundHog Day, Bill Murray plays a character who is stuck in the same day, and re-lives it over and over again. Each day he wakes up and has a fresh crack at molding and perfecting it.
Our lives are no different. We get the same chance every day to get it right.
Starting today, from a new awareness, how will you think, speak and behave differently?
